Position Summary
We seek an experienced NLP Engineer to join our team and advance our cutting-edge insights engine, Krystie™. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying NLP models that enhance our platform’s ability to extract clinical information from social media. Additionally, you will play a key role in integrating the latest advances in generative NLP into TREND’s offerings. We are looking for someone with a deep understanding of NLP and generative AI who thrives in a fast-paced, iterative environment and is driven to solve complex, impactful problems in healthcare analytics.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and deploy state-of-the-art NLP models using transformer-based architectures and other advanced techniques.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical NLP solutions.
- Lead the construction of high-quality annotated datasets, managing and overseeing annotation projects for training and evaluating NLP models.
- Implement robust NLP pipelines that extract and normalize information from unstructured text sources, linking entities to standardized medical knowledge bases.
- Integrate and optimize generative AI technologies into our products, ensuring scalability and performance.
- Implement and maintain data privacy and security best practices throughout the model development and deployment lifecycle.
- Continuously research and incorporate the latest advancements in NLP and generative AI to keep our technology at the forefront of the field.
What You Have
- Master’s degree in computer science, Computational Linguistics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of hands-on experience in NLP model development and deployment.
- 3+ years of experience with Python and its scientific computing ecosystem (NumPy, Pandas, etc.).
- 2+ years of working experience with deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Proven expertise in modern NLP tasks, including named entity recognition (NER), information extraction, and text classification.
- Proficiency with generative AI technologies, such as transformer models (GPT, BERT, etc.).
- Strong understanding of prompt engineering techniques for optimizing large language model (LLM) outputs, including RAG and structured generation.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Standout Qualities
- PhD in a relevant field or equivalent industry experience.
- Proficiency with cloud computing platforms, particularly AWS (Lambda, Bedrock), to support scalable NLP model deployment and inference.
- Familiarity with UMLS (Unified Medical Language System) and its application to healthcare or biomedical NLP use cases.
- Experience with knowledge graph construction and working with ontologies, particularly in the medical domain.
- Hands-on experience with data lake platforms like Databricks for large-scale data processing and model training.
- Competency in MLOps, including model monitoring and ensuring continuous integration and deployment of model versions.
- Publications, particularly in healthcare-related applications.

- Successful candidates must pass a criminal background check.

- This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site position, with the possibility of a hybrid schedule (to be determined with your supervisor).
