Founded in 2017 by parents with a child born with a rare disease, TREND Community’s vision is to revolutionize the world’s understanding of diseases. Leveraging AI techniques, such as Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML), our technology analyzes real-world conversations to uncover insights that are used by our communities and our clients to help establish natural history, identify unmet needs, understand quality of life issues, catalyze research, and spread awareness. As a result, our community-centric approach is accelerating the discovery and delivery of new treatments.

Position Summary

As a Data Analyst, you will work alongside the NLP/ML engineers and data scientists to enhance and improve our analytics engine, Krystie. You will provide insight into new analytical approaches and degradation of existing NLP models and enhance the company’s current methods and internal lexical knowledge base.

What You’ll Do

  • Work within our internal data analytics platform, which handles all our analytics and AI workloads
  • Produce tables and figures in a publication-quality form summarizing the results of statistical analyses and present these results
  • Maintain accountability of documentation, standardization of processes used, and the ability to reproduce your findings
  • As a small, agile company with multiple concurrent projects, you will need to think fast on your feet and switch context at a moment’s notice
  • Always consider our community’s best interests while performing your duties

What You Have

  • Advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) in Statistics, Social Science, Public Health, or a related field
  • Background in linguistics, particularly with an emphasis on corpus analysis
  • Clinical research, medical anthropology, or epidemiology backgrounds
  • Graduated from an accredited college or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience conducting end-to-end research projects on unstructured datasets (e.g., social media conversations)
  • Comfortable working in a notebook environment and have experience with at least one programming language (R, SQL, or Python)
  • Experience with cloud computing environment (e.g., Databricks)
  • Good communication and storytelling skills to present your findings to both our industry and community partners
  • Should possess critical thinking skills, along with a curious nature to find novel concepts buried within the data
  • The ability to work within a team and collaborate effectively with your other team members
  • U.S. citizen, legal U.S. resident, or legally allowed to work in the U.S. (we are currently not sponsoring applicant work visas)
