Position Summary

We seek a talented Data Research Analyst to join our team and contribute to our mission of revolutionizing the world’s understanding of diseases. In this role, you will work closely with our NLP/ML engineers and data scientists to leverage and enhance our cutting-edge insights engine, Krystie™, and deliver custom data explorations for our stakeholders. You will play a crucial role in transforming complex data into actionable insights that drive progress in healthcare for rare and chronic diseases.

As a Data Research Analyst, you will analyze data and contribute to the continuous improvement of our analytical approaches. You’ll help identify potential degradation in our existing NLP models and play a key role in enhancing our current methods and expanding our internal lexical knowledge base. This position requires a deep understanding of NLP and healthcare domains with a blend of analytical skills, creativity, and storytelling.

What You’ll Do

  • Work within our internal data analytics platform, which handles all our analytics and AI workloads.
  • Produce tables and figures in a publication-quality form summarizing the results of statistical analyses and present these results.
  • Maintain accountability of documentation, standardization of processes used, and the ability to reproduce your findings.
  • As a small, agile company with multiple concurrent projects, you will need to think fast on your feet and switch context at a moment’s notice.
  • Always consider our community’s best interests while performing your duties.

What You Have

  • Advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) in Statistics, Social Science, Public Health, or a related field.
  • Background in linguistics, particularly with an emphasis on corpus analysis.
  • Experience in clinical research, medical anthropology, or epidemiology.
  • 3+ years of experience conducting end-to-end research projects on unstructured datasets (e.g., social media conversations).
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (R, SQL, or Python) and comfortable working in a notebook environment.
  • Experience with cloud computing environments (e.g., Databricks).
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills to present findings to industry and community partners.
  • Critical thinking skills and a curious nature to uncover novel concepts within data.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with other team members.
  • U.S. citizen, legal U.S. resident, or legally allowed to work in the U.S. (we are currently not sponsoring applicant work visas).

Standout Qualities

  • Experience with healthcare or biomedical NLP use cases.
  • Familiarity with UMLS (Unified Medical Language System).
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Understanding of machine learning concepts and their application in data analysis.
  • Experience working with large-scale datasets and big-data technologies.
  • Familiarity with NLP model evaluation and performance metrics.
  • Experience in developing or enhancing lexical resources or ontologies.

Special Requirements

  • Successful candidates must pass a criminal background check.
  • This full-time, 40-hours-per-week hybrid schedule requires employees to be on-site twice weekly.
